It is with deep sorrow that we remember and honour the life of Henry Frank Stachurski, a beloved member of the St. John Henry Newman Catholic Secondary School community. Henry passed away on December 23, 2024, at the age of 57.
Henry's connection to Newman ran deep. As a proud โCardinal,โ he was not only a graduate of our school but also served as a teacher, Department Head, and coach for over 25 years. His mentorship, leadership, and unwavering commitment to his students and colleagues left an indelible mark on our community. Henry was instrumental in building Newmanโs girls' volleyball program and carried his passion for coaching to McMaster University, where he served as an assistant coach for the womenโs volleyball team for nine years.
Henryโs greatest passion was people. Known for his generosity, kindness, and quiet strength, he had a profound impact on everyone he met. His legacy of humanity, faith, and enduring friendships will continue to inspire those who knew him. In Henry's honour, the school will present a graduation award to a student who exemplifies the same values he upheld.
Henryโs legacy will live on in the halls of Newman and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of learning from him, working with him, and calling him a friend. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
May his soul rest in peace.
